Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. However, emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

For your convenience, 'drop-off' appointments are available. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually we will ask you to 'drop off' sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done, she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and give discharge instructions.

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We require that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.
All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

Prescription Policy

Limerick Mills Animal Hospital Website/Catalogue Prescription Policy

At Limerick Mills Animal Hospital, it is our policy to take measures to ensure the best quality of pharmaceutical products available. This is especially important with life threatening diseases such as Heartworm disease. However, we understand and empathize with the desire to find less expensive alternatives. We know that several websites and catalogues presently sell these products cheaper than we are able to. If you wish, we will gladly write a prescription for your pet in lieu of selling them here. We do, however, wish for your decision to be an informed decision, and want you to know several things regarding website and catalogue prescription sales:

Most major manufactures maintain a strict policy of sales exclusively through licensed veterinarians. Most website and catalogue sales are through non-approved channels.

Most guarantees that manufacturers make regarding their products are null and void if their products are purchased through non-approved channels. This includes the guarantee reimbursement programs, as well as all heartworm, flea and intestinal parasite control.

Pharmaceuticals manufactured and labeled for the use in other countries (such as Australia) have been illegally diverted and sold through these discount houses in the U.S.

Discount houses have been cited by the FDA and State Boards of Pharmacy for violating prescribing procedures. PetMedsExpress, in particular, was fined over $100,000.00 by the FDA and Florida Department of Health. They have also been sued by the Texas Board of Veterinary Examiners and the Texas Pharmacy Board. To ensure you are ordering from a trustworthy website we ask that you visit napb.info (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy’s) and check to see if the site you are using is Vet-VIPPS approved (Vet-Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites).

When using a discount house keep in mind shipping charges, delays, and product not being properly shipped. For example, it may be allowed to get too hot or too cold as well as not being packaged properly and could result in the medication becoming ineffective, damaged or unusable.

As an added benefit to purchasing our products we would be glad to apply product for you as well as council you on the most efficient use of the products.

The guidelines for which the prescription will be written are as follows:

1. All State and Federal prescribing laws apply as if you were purchasing the product here.

2. The prescription will be written at no charge, however, you must pick it up in person or we will mail it out to you. We recommend you keep a copy for yourself and send the original in. When the prescription is received you will be able to verify it was filled properly.

3. We will not communicate with the discount house in any fashion, this includes fax. It is your responsibility to ensure that the prescription is sent, filled, labeled, shipped and used correctly. The discount houses have a reputation for poor customer service, and we will not take the time to oversee their operation.

4. We can not become involved in any product failure issues for products purchased through these discount houses.
